The Idea
DigiTec Food Production
Every Wednesday around lunchtime, we offer a variety of free food at the GoTec main entrance (see map below), which we locally produce at the Center for Digital Technologies in Goslar.
We will offer a variety of gourmet mushrooms such as oyster mushrooms, king oyster mushrooms, and shiitakes accompanied by produce, e.g., lettuce, pumpkins, sweet potatoes, and various herbs, from our Smart Greenhouse and the indoor farming systems. Some of the food we provide to students and colleagues via this project originates from the Foodsharing project.
Smart Greenhouse & Farmbot
In our Smart Greenhouse, we produce a variety of seasonal vegetables, such as lettuce, pumpkins, sweet potatoes, and various herbs.

Besides our Smart Greenhouse, we operate additional outdoor setups to grow further produce, ranging from simple plants in pots to outdoor hydroponic systems.
Gourmet Mushroom Production
We operate grow tents equipped with various sensors and automation features that house our gourmet mushrooms, such as oyster mushrooms, king oyster mushrooms, and shiitakes.

While the Smart Greenhouse is limited to seasonal production, our indoor vertical farming tower allows for an all-year production of heavy greens. The Vertical Farming Tower is a so-called Hydroponic system in which we grow plants using a water-based nutrient solution rather than traditional soil.
